Questions About Products

Q: Does the Rx Oils Flax product contain fish oil?

A: No. Supplement Rx uses organic flax seed oil for its source of Omega 3 in this Omega 3, 6, 9 complex supplement. This eliminates the possibility for mercury contamination in your Omega complex supplement. We also offer Rx Oils Fish which has been certified mercury free if you prefer this Omega option.

Q: I recently purchased the RX Joint Health supplement and I noticed upon opening the bottle, that it had a distinct smell and the capsules had multi or discolored product in it. Is this normal?

A: Yes this is normal. The Rx Joint Health supplement has a distinct smell due to the MSM it contains. MSM is a sulfur based product and also causes what appears to be specks of color in the individual capsules.

Q: Why do the multiple vitamins have a strong scent to them when I open the bottle?

A: The strong scent is due to the high B-complex found in the vitamins.

Q: What animal does the gelatin in the encapsulated products come from?

A: The gelatin in the capsules comes from both cow and pig.

Q: How do I know which supplements are right for me?

A: Use the Supplement Recommender on our home page to find out what’s right for you. Simply answer the questions. Then it will take those answers and build a system that’s just right for you!

Q: Can I give some portion of a protein smoothie made with Building Blocks Protein or Rx Meal to my child?

A: Yes. We recommend a ½ gram to ¾ gram of protein per pound of body weight per day. The range can vary depending on the activity level of that child.

Q: What are the key differences in the Building Blocks Protein and the Rx Meal shake powder?

A:Rx Meal is for those looking to lose weight. Rx Meal has more fat 6g (healthy Medium Chain Triglycerides) with 22G protein, 6g fiber and a bit more calories. This was designed to really help satisfy hunger (fat & protein digest slower/satisfy longer), blood sugar balance and extra nutrients & protein between meals based on that profile. Thus it will stave off hunger longer than the Building Blocks Protein. Building Blocks Protein is fantastic for someone who needs the highest quality straight whey protein supplement in his or her diet. Remember, this is a whey isolate, egg white matrix that is around 90% absorbable. Its recommended for those that are really looking to lean up, build muscle, have high exercise activity or have trouble getting adequate amount of protein in diet. It is 138 calories with 25g protein and awesome amino acid profile (typically twice that of generic products).

Q: Why choose BCAA capsules vs. Building Blocks Protein?

A: BCAA would be important for someone having trouble recovering from cardio workouts, high cardio endurance training or classes or just poor protein consumption to name a few. The three amino acids in the BCAA are so key to preventing muscle breakdown and recovery. Maintaining muscle and recovery can be very difficult for those that move a lot, or do a ton of cardio, because they tend to burn a lot of calories. These people really need to make sure they have the “insurance” that the BCAA provides, as well as the Building Blocks Protein to help recover and maintain muscle. Now if someone is taking Building Blocks Protein they are getting a fabulous amino blend. It comes down to how the person is recovering and what the body is doing. If someone is taking Building Blocks Protein, but is a high endurance athlete or burning a ton of calories I would still offer BCAA as additional insurance. In capsule form and spread throughout the day with meals ensures they are getting a nice release of these critical amino acids (Leucine, Isoleucine & Valine).

Q: Why Proprietary Blends?

A: Proprietary blends are quite common on supplements. Primarily, it is used to protect formulations from duplication by other manufacturers. (A lot of research and development goes into the formulations.) We do make sure to follow all proper protocols in keeping up our GMP and NSF certifications and our labs are regularly inspected by the FDA, so you can be assured that the ingredients listed in the proprietary blends are the only ingredients in that blend. If this is a particular component in a proprietary blend listing that gives you pause, please reach out to us and we can tell you how much of that ingredient is in the blend. We know this is particularly important to many when it comes to stimulant-like ingredients. We are open to educating consumers on ingredients that relate specifically to them so that they can make the best decision regarding personal health. Yet, we are a business and must take precautions against corporate espionage.

Q: I am an athlete-in-training. Is there any of your products that could show up on a potential drug screening?
